January 11th Prospect

Hilight today : NORTHERN GOSHAWK juvenile @ lamppost 249 by stairs, sitting on a stump by a beech tree. Prospect Park. The large raptor was first spotted by Mary Eyster who alerted me to its presence. After a first try and no luck, a subsequent 2nd swingby a half hour later led to the perched bird which eventually flew down to the low stairs. It landed on a cut tree stump where it sat on before flushed by a passerby. Mid-morning sightings. Lamppost #249 is located at the southwest corner of Lookout Hill , adjoining the lawn next to Well Drive.

Kingsboider note: I did an online internet search and saw this photo that is a best resemblance to the "Gos" seen today. A pretty impressive yet beautiful bird....
