Included in this post is the final tally of species seen throughout the year in Prospect in 2008. The final 2008 count was 189 species. It falls below our usual average of 196. In 2007 , when it was 198 , there were 17 rare species compared to 2008 which had 8 rare species not seen in '07. so the differential was 9. It changes every year. In the list below, i hilighted the notable, the quite so rare and astounding sightings. Please note the date means the first day seen so there may be other dates seen afterwards.Not included on the Prospect list was Bohemian Waxwing seen in January '08; but me being a purist, it doesnt count here cause its out of bounds ;)> .
