March 26th Prospect

Hilights: 3 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS (K.Randall); 6 Ring-necked Ducks, Pied-billed Grebe

An unseasonably cold day for birding, regression to wintry like conditions ( but fortunately no heavy precipitation) yet today's blustery day didnt't deter a PIED-BILLED GREBE seen along the flattened Phragmite section behind Duck island. The grebe, my first for the year, then went diving inside a pocket within the phragmites.

Off to the northwest, in the northwest cove of the Peninsula Thumb, 5 RING-NECKED DUCKS (3 drakes, 2 hens) in a tight flock glided near a RUDDY DUCK flock, estimated at 70 birds. The persistent Ring-neck Duck drake, at the Upper Pool , was sleeping next to the island.
