December 2nd Prospect lingering AMRS, feeders ; BBG report

All the rain and howling wind didnt deter nor wash away the lingering late AMERICAN REDSTART reported today (RBate), seen at its usual location , the Wellhouse. Feeders continue to attract the usual species, two White-breasted Nuthatch bringing their "bulk" among the various Chickadees.

Speaking of the feeders, I hung up the suet . For $1.17 per cake from Lowes on Hamilton Avenue, not a bad deal. ( I realized suet from the butchers is just as good but I lack the cooking expertise  (or time!) to reshape the suet into cakes and also add in some grain as well).  Another help would be to obtain eared corn with dry kernels to lay on the ground to divert and keep the squirrels from attacking the feeders ( not a major issue now)  but as winter comes, I will need the extra grain or crack grain of some sort  for those hungry squirrels.

Other than that , Ben Bohen reports PIED-BILLED GREBE on the Upper Pool, where nearby on the mainland, the hardy Great Blue Heron watches like a sentinel. No sign of the Gadwall nor Ring-necked Duck but they may be hiding in the back of the island.
