October 9th Prospect Park + 10/8 report

From Russ Aldertone:

Peter,

My list is almost all Lookout Hill, particularly the north-west slope. I've never seen that many species all in one place. I'm sure there were plenty I missed since it was overcast and hard to see .

Russ

From Bob Machover:

October 8th afternoon Prospect report

Hi Peter,

Nothing unusual but what a nice time I had! Not a whole lot of birds but a fairly steady appearance of small pockets of migrants. I'm impressed by how many warblers are still coming through. I'm also impressed with how nice a park it is and what a good time everyone seemed to be having. Here's a quick list from 21/2 hours in the afternoon:

1. Canada Goose - lots
2. Mute Swan - 2
3. Mallard - lots
4. Northern shoveler - even more
5. Rock Pigeon
6. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 3
7. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 2
8. Downy Woodpecker - 1
9. Northen Flicker - 20+
10. Eastern Phoebe - 2
11. Red-eyed Vireo - 2
12. Blue Jay - 10+
13. Winter Wren - 1
14. Swainson's Thrush - 1
15. American Robin - 4+
16. Black-throated Blue Warbler - 2
17. Black-throated Green warbler - 1
18. Palm Warbler - 2 (1 eastern, 1 western)
19. Black-and-white Warbler - 2
20. American Redstart - 1 (adult male)
21. Common Yellowthroat - 12+
22. Eastern Towhee - 2
23. Song Sparrow - 5
24. Swamp Sparrow - 2
