I received more info on the rare sighting. .Heidi Steiner -Nanz and Michelle Dreger who co- led the Brooklyn Bird Club sponsored 1st Sundays group that starts at the Audubon Center, initially saw the rare woodpecker in the oak/ ash forest on Lookout Hill's western slope ( facing the cemetery)
The bird was a juvenile.
