April 8th Prospect "cooldown"; reports of Loons, a " Louie" and a Rusty.

After a record setting day yesterday in which the 1929 record of 89 was broken with a 92 degree "scorcher", a leftover winter symbol to set my mind to ease for today ( for those of you who don't know that I am an ardent winter birder). ;)>

Enroute to work , from the South Lake drive, I observed two flyover COMMON LOONS over Prospect Lake, heading northwest at 6:55 am.

--Peter

Note: Another Common Loon flew over an hour later ( 7:52) quite low over the Rink.I could see it "calling".

From Peter:

An interesting sighting, a really tough bird to identify for beginners and many others, a first year female PINE WARBLER seen hanging out at the Binnen Run , behind the Pagoda Bandshell. Best views at the well known bird bathing spot that's quite protective for birds (esp warblers), is from the horse trail ( you would be facing the Pagoda). Here's a photo from the Warbler Page website
of that bird I saw today
