Peter' s list:

With planting a high priority these days, I do my best and hope to get some weekday birding in. After work, i usually go along the south side of the lake "South Lakeside" as i call it for the record.
Between Duck Island and Three Sisters Island, is a point--marked by three birch trees- with a clear vantage of the lake. It was here that i saw two cool looking sparrows that flushed upwards into a small mulberry tree. One was FIELD SPARROW joined by SAVANNAH SPARROWS with their clear yellow superciliums.

Through this region , it was quite productive given the lateness of the day and overcast brisk weather. I also saw a perched MERLIN, Eastern Towhee ( at "East Cypress Cove"), Palm Warbler, RC Kinglet, Swamp Sparrow, and flyover Laughing Gulls. And a Blue Gray Gnatcatcher for good measure on West Island. A nice surprising tally after work.

Despite the overcast chilly weather, i would check out the park just for the heck of it.You never know whether cold fronts pushes down migrants.

P.
