From Stanly Greenberg:

Prospect Park 5/3
Tue May 3, 2011 11:57 am (PDT)

Lots of activity in a couple places, especially near the Esdale Bridge, as Peter's blog has already mentioned. I had the following birds in one oak tree (or just below in the water) within about ten minutes:

Chestnut sided
Northern Parula
Black and White
Blackburnian
Yellow-rumped
Common Yellowthroat
Magnolia (my FOS, haven't seen one listed anywhere else for Prospect)
Northern waterthrush
Black throated green
Blackthroated blue
Baltimore Oriole
Scarlet tanager

There were at least four scarlet tanagers in the park (also near Dongan Oak monument and in the Vale).

Also seen today:

Yellow warbler
Hermit thrush
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
Eastern Kingbird
Blue headed vireo
Savannah sparrow

There's a wet spot just inside the Midwood across from the zoo that was active. Could be worth monitoring:

Yellow warbler
Ovenbird
White throated sparrows
Black and white warblers

From Keir:
5/4 report

I was in the Vale this morning for half an hour before the rain
- Louisiana Waterthrush ,Prairie Warbler, calling Least Flycatcher etc.
Very active, lots of song

On Tuesday ( my day off), a weird molt mottled SUMMER TANAGER (SUTA) was spotted above the road at the margin of Ricks Place and Payne Hill. After some research later , Shane Blodgett and Rob Jett, the original observers whom I and Rob Bate were with, concurred on the true Identity for SUTA.The plumage is lime green with red splotches, head more rounder ,lighter wing color & bill light creamy color. So there is one around.
