A chilly day that reached only a high of 54 degrees with mostly quiet action. During a busy work schedule on Lookout Hill, I noted a flock of CHIPPING SPARROWS eating newly planted Little Bluestem seeds in an open area near Butterfly meadow. Among the "chippies", a FIELD SPARROW crashed in but only got as far as the road edge before a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW chased it.
After work ,contending with a heavy overcast and brisk chills, I found HOUSE WREN in the Upper Pool wildflower/grass meadow the only thing there. In the nearby snow fence enclosure, in one corner as I approached, 7 PALM WARBLERS flushed and perched on the fence in the ball field, with a few SAVANNAH SPARROWS in the mix.
Also, one MERLIN flew over in the stiff wind , over the Sparrowbowl which was very quiet.
A good crisp sunny ( there ! finally) day is forecasted for tomorrow. It should be potentially good for something.
