One of our regular Prospect field trip leaders , Tom Stephenson is heading for the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan next month with the hope of bringing donated old scopes (including me + another) in good condition for the bird guides there. Bhutan's government is committed to preserving its country wide forest , an envirnomental spectacular haven. Its main industrial export is selling electricity to neighboring India. But with global warming melting the snow peaks, there is less hydroelectric production.
This situation leads the government to hoping in an incease in ecotourism --birding being one discipline. Tour guides there need equipement to create the need to produce more birding tourism. The birds there as evident by a past Brooklyn Bird Club program are spectacular as well as the country's landscape.
If you wish to donate a scope , speak to Tom. Email is 12TomS@Gmail.com
