February 20th Prospect

As the temperatures were a little warmer than a week ago, I went to Prospect Park (PP), for my weekly walk to look for birds.
Most of the snow is almost melt, and the lake is still frozen, and so the pools. No much activity, except for the feeders at Breezy Hill. But the lake has large numbers of gulls, specially Ring-billeds. A Hooded Merganser male, was seen among the Mallards.
A lonely Common Grackle was spotted near the Zoo grounds, and a male Hairy Woodpecker, were nice surprises.

Wood Duck at southern end of the lake on Thursday, swimming in and around the swans.

Wood Duck was back at the Audubon Center pond ,preening on the ice this morning.
