May 1st Prospect "Its May Day, we need to work for those birds!"

Last night's good weather and southern wind spurred almost all of Friday's birds out and away , leaving the birders today to work for the birds whatever remained . In true workmanship, people helped in the spirit of birding getting others the good bird or the personal first of the season bird or simply passing along word what's been seen.

IN that spirit, some good birds were found.Collectively, 20 species warblers were accounted for .Its a high number given the fast track birds gave us leaving the party so soon :)> . Hilights included HOODED WARBLER heard singing , then found on the slope behind the building inside the Quaker Cemetery; male Indigo Bunting closer to the main gate. Worm-eating Warbler and Blackburnian Warbler ( gorgeous!) at the Environmental Bond sign north of Ricks Place, Scarlet Tanagers ( thumbs up for me, my first life bird), 2 Orange-crowned Warblers in the Bald Cypress tree at Binnen Bridge, & Nashville among the lot. Solitary Sandpiper in the wee hours at the south lakeside near West Island and also much later the Lullwater at the Terrace Bridge and Lily Pond with several Spotted Sandpipers to add .Yellow-throated Vireo, Broad-winged Hawk (circling with a RT Hawk, 10.15am over Nethermead),White-crowned Sparrow (Battle Pass, late pm),Ruby -throated Hummingbird ,Great Crested Flycatcher , Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks also made appearances.

From Rafael Campos:

01 May 2010
Today was not as good as yesterday, meaning number of individuals/species. As many sps of warblers as yesterday, some different. Most of the sps were 1/sps, exception YRWAs (Do everybody knows that the YRWA complex has been split in 4 sps, not accepted yet, by ABA or AOU/NACC?)(ours is the Myrtle!!), but other sps I did not see yesterday, like Scarlet Tanager, Eastern Kingbird, Wood Thrush were present, and seen. Other birders in PP told me about 1 female RBGR, (Boulder Bridge), and 1 female INBU (Vale). This time I started much earlier than yesterday, and did not pass from the pool's area. Missed areas were Peninsula, Lake, Lookout Hill.
Today's list:
Canada Goose
Mallard
Red-tailed Hawk (sitting on the nest, ca. Nellie's lawn)
