Prospect April 19th Ultra rarity sighting

A striking bird was reported just before 1 PM by Russ Alderson, SWALLOW-TAILED KITE flying over Lookout Hill's summit. This might possibly be the same bird that was reported a two days ago over Sandy Hook hawk watch in New Jersey, or a second individual, with the first seen over Coney Island as it crossed the lower NY Bay. It would behoove anyone to look up much as possible with the warm southern airflow now. Very few records of this species is recorded in Brooklyn but a first report for Prospect .

2 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS is a very good sighting for spring, seen at the Lullwater Cove observation deck by Mike Yuan and Chris Elliot early this morning. So a rarity topped by a far better species after noontime. I guess a little overshadowed , bad luck for the warblers being "second banana".

Tom Stephenson's  BBC Thursday Walks started today, with very nice success with the season's first NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. Visitors from Ireland and Norway in the group were treated to a flyover COMMON LOON and EASTERN KINGBIRD as well, good results for these BBC walks taking place every Tuesday and Thursdays till mid May. Check the Brooklyn Bird Club trips page for details.

From Tom:
Hi Peter,
Another great day in the park. We had over 20 people with some from far-away places including Ireland, Norway, and Manhattan.
Probably the best bird was a Common Loon that flew over. We also had Fish Crow, Common Yellowthroat, Black-and-White Warbler, Warbling and Blue-headed Vireos, Northern Waterthrush, Eastern Kingbird, Chimney Swifts, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and other relatively new arrivals.
Here's the list.
Best regards,
Tom
