Prospect first good push April 4th, multiple reports

Southern air flow means good numbers of birds coming through , especially regarding the early spring migrating species.  5 Warbler species is a good omen of things to come. Kinglets of both species galore was the other noted observation, numbers in dispersed locations. Add to those, notable reports of a diversity of birds coming thru.

Of the warblers, PINE, PALM , f-o-y BLACK & WHITE, LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH (LOWA) , and YELLOW-RUMPED make up the action.

While looking for LOWA, Mary and I spotted an immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK soaring over the Binnen Water .

CHIPPING SPARROWS with the JUNCOS are in force, noted at 10th Ave entrance lawn and the Vale BBC 100th Garden  with many Palm Warblers.Juncos in a sizable flock occupy the lawn in front of the Wellhouse.

More later, as i just got a text  for LOWA seen in the Ravine 3:15

**************************
From my home computer:

The latest  report  (post Bate) on the LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH places the bird on the Ravine Creek after it exits the Ravine Pool, about 200 feet north of the 3 Arches Nethermead Bridge. I was able to see LOWA 3 seconds  before it dipped down further, under fallen timbers and tangles , which by the way, was very good this afternoon.Cool waters and buggy delight bought in about 4 PINE WARBLERS some PALMS and Eastern Phoebe. The spot was best seen from the horse trail though  a word of caution regarding Horse right of way.

Before I neglected to say  I had with Bob O'Neill at lunchtime, RUSTY BLACKBIRD flipping leaves along the Lower Pool shoreline at the back gate. ON the other Pool , Upper, 4 WOOD DUCKS.

Alex Wilson emailed me his report  in late afternoon including many of the previously mentioned birds, but notable the season's first BLUE-HEADED VIREO, some GREEN-WINGED TEALs, COMMON LOON flyover, and 2 WILSON'S SNIPES. See his report below for locations.

6 DC Cormorants were seen flying over the Ravine..so look up for other stuff as well. ( eagles migrate now)

A great day for warblers of the first early wave,a great  day  for about anything we expect this time of the year, including quality birds, too much to tell, and spring means busy busy texting , writing and calling ( hmm, I'll let others do that )....

Tomorrow should be quite productive and promising given cool and sunny weather.I hope you get out.
