May 7th Prospect: Its a Philly breeze, but Summer is here

Today's good bird is PHILADELPHIA VIREO, seen on the Breeze Hill south slope path accessed from the east end of the Terrace Bridge.

Alerted by Simon and Leah Bronstein of warblers in that general area, I spotted what I thought was a warbler eating a captured Red Admiral. Staying with it  until better light was upon the bird for me, it became a Vireo; then in lower views farther down the slope inside brush between the first path and lullwater path, it captured then a caterpillar, where the vireo in momentary stillness, I was able to see the light yellow breast wash and yellowish throat, and black lines along the wing edges. It was then I identified the vireo as PHILADELPHIA VIREO , a drab adult.

Just after lunch, I ran into Joe Canale. Joe told me he had a great bird, a
SUMMER TANAGER adult male at Boulder Bridge , in the west locust grove.
At 1:48 , I received a text message from Rob Jett that the SUMMER TANAGER was calling in the same area, but high in one of the oak trees.

Back at Breeze Hill, Rob Bate about an hour later witnessed two ORCHARD ORIOLES in flying maneuvers, obviously courtship has started for the love crazed birds.

And on a feel good story for Rob, who had put up a Wren box in early spring. Two HOUSE WRENS are in it....so cool to hear and cheers on the house !

So, the modest action dropped off, but if good birds are seen, it makes the day....
