Notable species : American Pipit ,Rusty Blackbird

From Rafael Campos

Date: 16 January 2010
Place: Prospect Park, Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY
Observer: Rafael Campos R.
A nice day to go to PP, but the bird activity was very low. Nothing unusual, the feeders at Breezy Hill were almost birdless, the lake mostly frozen, with good numbers of gulls, especially Ring-billed.
Later, while walking around the frozen pools, I saw 1 Great Blue Heron, and the best, the American Pipit, a single individual inside the fenced area near the ball fields in the Long Meadow.

The species recorded:
Canada Goose
Mute Swan
American Black Duck
Mallard
Northern Shoveler
Ruddy Duck
Great Blue Heron (1, upper pool)
Red-tailed Hawk (2, flying over Nethermead)
Ring-billed Gull
(American) Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Rock Pigeon
Mourning Dove
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Blue Jay
Black-capped Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch
Winter Wren (1, behind Well House)
American Robin
Northern Mockingbird (1)
European (Common) Starling
American (Buff-bellied) Pipit (1, fenced area near the ball fields)
Fox Sparrow (3, behind Well House)
White-throated Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
Northern Cardinal
American Goldfinch
House Sparrow
