My last day in Park Slope, before I move South looking for warmer climates (aka Costa Rica). My early morning walk was totally different from the one I did yesterday. Gray skies, cold, and the bird activity was almost close to nothing. Most of the water is still frozen at the lake, and the large concentrations of birds are in few spots where the water is unfrozen (gulls + waterfowl).
The feeders at Breezy Hill had few bird species, perhaps the best there was 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch. And still the lonely Great Blue Heron, looking quite cold in the pools.
No raptors at all, nor even the pipit.
Here is the list of the birds recorded today:
Canada Goose
Mute Swan
Mallard
Northern Shoveler
Ruddy Duck
Great Blue Heron (1, lower pool)
America Coot (±3, Lake)
Ring-billed Gull
(American) Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Rock (Common) Pigeon
Mourning Dove
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Blue Jay
American Crow (2, Lake)

American Robin
European (Common) Starling
