Oct 4th Prospect

Today is the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint for ecology and great with birds! ( and wildlife too)

I received a report from Rob Bate LINCOLN SPARROW seen by the rink.

From Rob Jett:

Peter,

I spent 2 hours in Prospect Park today in the rain. Nothing really unusual to report, but some of the observed species made it suddenly feel more like winter:

- A small flock of shovelers was on the upper Lullwater with a lone coot.
- A single Pied-billed Grebe was on Prospect Lake.
- I tallied 4 sapsuckers, three of which were together in a tree near the ball fields.
- I counted 4 Winter Wrens spread out throughout the park.

Finally, the most telling sign was the presence of Dark-eyed Juncos and White-throated Sparrows. Brrrrr...

Good birding,

Rob
