From Matthew Wills:
Peter,
After I saw you I returned to the fenced area of the ballfields. Missed the Vespers again, but it turned out to be a raptor afternoon: three red-tails seen in the distance over the northern end of the Long Meadow; a kestrel made a pass over the fenced-in area, flushing the numerous juncos and chipping sparrows; soon after the birds returned to grazing, a merlin made three passes, once banking away within ten feet of me. As I left the park at B-P Circle, a red-tail carried off a pigeon it had taken besides the road.
Good birding.
