Not a fun day for birding Prospect Nov 4th

In between tasks and busy-"ness" plus staying in the car  for shelter on short spells , there were a few birds I noted, but mostly White-throated sparrows that didnt have a care about raindrops while they flip up wet leaves. It was more after work when I noticed a few small hilights.

Most notable was this scene: 8 GREAT BLUE HERONS perched on Three Sister Islands, facing the Lake.Obviously forced down by the storm, the flock settled in , pelted by raindrops, perched on the limbs over the water's edge. There was a ninth GBH, at Duck Island, feeding along the phragmite shielded shore. I presume this GBH preferred to hit some action over its more sedentary friends at Three Sisters.

Of interest to anyone, I got the RUSTY BLACKBIRD again, at the West Island Phragmite cove on the way home. I pished, and it responded ! It perched low on a Hawthorne Tree on the south edge of the cove, studied me for a moment before taking off towards Parkside Ave. I needed to move on anyway, cause "Raindrops keep falling on my head" .

Oh, a WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW still lingers , at the new rink shore area along the contruction fence that juts out, along with 7 Swamps and 5 "Chippies"  ( and speaking of the latter, it was really chippy out there today!)
