November 1st Prospect & Greenwood reports inc mass # hermit Thrushes

A busy day for me as we transitioned out of the Rink due for closure . Nevertheless, on the Lake, 6 HOODED MERGANSERs plus a lone RING-NECKED DUCK with them before sailing off to hang out with the Ruddies.  Plenty of sparrows around, but little time to check them out .A beautiful crisp day, the way I like it.

From Mike Zablocky
Greenwood Cemetery

Hi, Peter!

Amazing numbers of Dark-eyed Juncos today. On the way to the cemetery there were easily a hundred or more Juncos in Sunset Park, while inside Greenwood there were several hundreds. I got to 150 Hermit Thrushes before I gave up counting.

The group of American Woodcock's were seen by one of the groundskeepers around 3:00 PM. He said two of the Woodcocks were taken by a hawk (probably Red-tailed). I flushed one on my way down Bluff-side Path.

Good birding!
