My big surprise was a lonely American Woodcock that I flushed on
Lookout Hill, actually twice. Few minutes later, a group of volunteers
& park personel, flushed again, and it took off flying towards the
lake shore.
At the upper pool, I saw the Ring-necked hen, and 2 good surprises
, 1 Pied-billed Grebe (seldom seen here), and 1 American Wigeon.
Numbers, very low individuals/sps, but sparrows (3 sps) were the
most abundant, and surprise, I tallied no more than 6 Hermit Thrushes.
The birds:
Canada Goose
