For what it's worth, at 4:30 PM today there were six Black Crowned Night Herons roosting high in the tallest tree on West Island

From Eni and Vin Falci, leading the 1st Sunday Group
Hi Peter-
There were two large groups birding in the park today, combined the count was over 50 birders at its peak. The groups met up at the Vale and crossed a few times.
The list submitted for Gabriel's group stands for the boathouse group with the addition of a brown creeper near the terrace bridge and golden crowned kinglets at the upper pool area. All three red tailed hawk nest were observed and found to be occupied with nesting birds. Beside the hawks there are already nesting mourning doves and the Redbellied woodpeckers are carving out nice holes.
The late American tree sparrow was a nice surprise but the pine warblers and red breasted nuthatchs from yesterday alluded us. Still lots of Fox sparrows (3) and juncos but probably not for long.
