Just a reminder that there is a Brooklyn Bird Club walk in Prospect Sunday 4/3 at 8 am from the Grand Army Plaza park entrance, Gabriel Willow is leading.Check the BBC website . ( Kingsboider will like a species list )
Some early spring birds were reported today in Prospect. Hilighting the quality: PINE WARBLER,RUSTY BLACKBIRD, COMMON LOON flyover, TREE SWALLOWs
The brightly colored PINE WARBLER was seen by Peter and Mary E. at the north Lullwater next to the Terrace Bridge Pine grove ( it figures) before it crossed over the water to the south side where it was picked up later by Rob Jett. Back to the north side, Rob Jett found a RUSTY BLACKBIRD working the shore of the cove below the observer platform..Unfortunately, when other birders went to look for it, an encroaching fisherman was at the cove point the Rusty BB was last seen, a common problem with intrusive fishermen who oftentimes vandalize the fences to access restrictive areas..In the early morning, flyover COMMON LOON and TREE SWALLOWS were recorded by Rob 's group the Linnaean Society as well as Sharp-shinned Hawk plus 5 species woodpeckers...His report is pending reception for this blog.
